Why a Corporate Profile?

There is nothing harder than speaking about yourself and promoting your skills. At least I have that mentality, and a few folks around me also say the same. But it has to be done as no-one else is going to do it for me. And if I don’t do it, no-one is going to know that I am available for hire.

So Roof-Tek has just passed our four-month mark, and I just approved today my Corporate Profile. You would think that would be my priority. However looking back, no-one can appreciate how much work is involved in the backend of starting a business.

Putting it all together took time and is still taking time, and I am doing it while drumming up work and completing projects. Because if I don’t get paid, there is no business. Every day I am prospecting for new clients while also catching up with folks I have worked with in the past as well.

As they say, nothing in life is straightforward. Making sure everything is complete with the government involved many calls, going back and forth as well as obtaining good advice. And of course, listening, listening to more listening.

Organizing business and liability insurance, preparing business documents, prospecting for clients, completing proposals, building the website, putting together other marketing materials including my corporate identity… I can say, there is still not enough time in the day. And I don’t think I am getting done what I need to get done yet!

But putting together my Corporate Profile was my most laborious task yet. It involved researching of my competition, reviewing of similar companies in the industry and studying of other Corporate Profiles recognized as quality and informative. I needed to say what I wanted to say in the of shortest words. But I also need to use terminology that separates me from the rest. The great thing is that in the end, business and life are ever-evolving so my Corporate Profile will also be evolving as well.
